This entire Selection Process is conducted through Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs) and Selection Centres. Passing each stage is mandatory; failing in even one stage results in disqualification of the candidate from the process.

  • AFNS Initial Computerized Test at Test Centre or Testing Hall
  • AFNS Initial Medical at CMH or Military Hospital
  • Document Verification Process at AS&RC or AS&RCs
  • AFNS Initial Interview with Interview Board or Selection Board
  • AFNS Final Medical at GHQ or CMH
  • Final Merit List from General Headquarters or Directorate
  • Training Induction at Training Academy

AFNS Initial Computerized Test

AFNS Initial Computerized Test: this is the first and most important hurdle of the Selection Process. It is also called Army Computer Test. Your Performance in this Computer Test decides your Merit Rank.

MCQs are displayed on the Computer screen; this is a fully Computer-based Examination. Portions include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Intelligence Tests. Test Passing Marks are usually more than 50 percent; the actual cutoff varies according to Merit. Mobile phones, calculators, and any electronic devices are not allowed in the Testing Hall. Exam Slip and original CNIC are compulsory. Call-up Letters or Call-up Notices clearly state the test Schedule and Test Centre location. Normal Run candidates do not receive Tickets or travel advance; they must make their own arrangements.

Officera’s Advice: To top the AFNS Initial Computerized Test, practice Past Papers and MCQs with Answers; this is the shortcut to Success. Get a good rest the night before Testing and visit the Examination Hall location in advance if possible.

AFNS Initial Medical

AFNS Initial Medical: this stage is for Candidates who pass the Initial Computerized Test. This Medical examination assesses your physical Fitness and Health.

Height and Weight are measured again; Height Requirement and BMI are checked. Body Mass Index must be within the normal range. An Eyesight test is conducted; vision Standards are specific. Blood tests, urine tests, and a general Health evaluation are conducted. Character Defects or physical deformity may exclude a candidate. Serious Medical issues falling under Ineligibility Conditions disqualify a candidate. A physical Fitness assessment is also conducted.

Health Tip: Before the AFNS Initial Medical, eat a proper diet, exercise regularly, and ensure you meet Height, Weight, and Eyesight requirements. Fitness maintenance is not just important for Selection; it is always important in Military Life.

AFNS Initial Interview

AFNS Initial Interview: this stage assesses your Personality, communication, and Intelligence. It is a Panel Interview attended by a senior Officer or officers from the Interview Board.

Personality Test and Personality Tests are key components of this stage. A Psychologist also reviews Psychology Documents and may conduct additional Personality Tests. Questions on Biology, Nursing, current affairs, and general knowledge are asked. Appearance, Uniforms (if applicable), and overall Profile are assessed. A neat and professional Appearance is required as per Interview Guidelines. The Interview Panel may include senior Ranks officers; speak to them with Self-confidence. Clearly explain your Education, Field, and Nursing Career goals during Interviews. Communication skills in both Urdu and English (ENG) are helpful. Awareness about the Roles, Duties, and responsibilities of Nursing is essential.

Officera’s Tip: Practice mock Interviews, revise your Subjects, and keep up with current medical news. Always be honest and confident before the Interview Board; this will be your best Performance.

AFNS Final Medical

All Initial Medical tests are repeated; these are more detailed. X-rays, ECG, and a complete blood panel may be included. A thorough re-evaluation of Eyesight occurs. A final check of BMI, Height, and Weight occurs. If any Issue arises at this stage which was not detected earlier, the candidate is disqualified. After clearing the Final Medical, the Final Merit List is prepared.

After clearing the Final Medical, the candidate is commissioned in AFNS at the rank of Lieutenant and starts their Nursing Service in the Pakistan Armed Forces. For Training, they are assigned to a Training Academy and then posted to CMH, CMHs, or PNS Shifa Karachi.

Military Training, which begins after commissioning, transforms an Applicant into a professional Officer Nurse. This Training is physically and mentally demanding, but the Future opportunities make this hard work worth it.

Military Training includes Nursing Training, physical Fitness, and military Discipline. Uniforms and Rank are assigned during Training Induction. Mechanical skills and basic Engineering knowledge such as medical equipment handling are also taught. Ordnance Depot-related Training is also included in some postings. Boards also known as review boards conduct periodic Performance evaluations. Build your career like a Work of Art; navigate each stage carefully and deliberately.
